Black Aesthetics Essay

Black Aesthetics The word â€Å"aesthetics† can be defined as a branch of philosophy that critically reflects on art, culture, and nature. It is a view, opinion, or an attitude toward what is considered offensive or acceptable. It is more scientifically defined as a critical judgment of the sensory emotional values that exude from the nature of beauty, art, and taste. Aesthetics as it pertains to the black community or simply â€Å"black aesthetics† refers to ideologies and perspectives of art that centers around back culture and life. Black aesthetics spawned from the Blacks Arts Movement of the 1960’s where blacks demonstrated that you didn’t have to assimilate into white American culture. The movement refers to a period of African American creativity beginning in the mid-1960’s and continuing through much of the 1970’s. It was a pivotal moment in African American literature. It inspired black people to establish their own publishing houses, magazines, journals and art institutions. It led to the creation of African American Studies programs within universities. It all precipitated from the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965. Linked both chronologically and ideologically with the Black Power Movement, The BAM recognized the idea of two cultural Americas: one black and one white. The BAM pressed for the creation of a distinctive Black Aesthetic in which black artists created for black audiences. The movement saw artistic production as the key to revising Black American’s perceptions of themselves, thus the Black Aesthetic was believed to be an integral component of the economic, political, and cultural empowerment of the Black community. The Black Arts Movement called for an explicit connection between art and politics. This movement created the most prevalent era in black art history by taking stereotypes and racism and turning it into artistic value. The concepts of Black Power, Nationalism, Community, and Performance all influenced the formation of this national movement, and it proliferated through community institutions, theatrical performance, literature, and music. One of the biggest problems that black Americans have been dealing with since being removed from our homeland is self-identification within western civilization. American culture was initially shaped by many European races and cultures coming together through shared ideals and values in which, has attributed to our diversity. However, other races did not always have a choice; all of the enslaved Africans were forced to assimilate. During the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, many African nations were struggling for their independence from Europe. Their struggles correlate to the struggle of blacks in the United States during the same time period. Since the 1880’s, when European nations colonized Africa, Europe had almost complete control over the continent, but this changed during the 1950’s and 1960’s. By 1958, ten African countries had gained their independence, and sixteen more joined the list in 1960 alone. With these nations gaining heir independence, it demonstrated the ability of blacks to overpower their white oppressors. The Black Power and Black Arts Movement in the United States were the result of just that. Who are black people, what are black people, what is their relationship to America and the world? It must be repeated that the whole myth of â€Å"Negro citizenship,† perpetuated by the white elite, has confused the thinking of radical and progressive blacks and whites in this country. The broad masses of black people react to American society in the same manner as colonial peoples react to the West in Africa, and Latin America, and had the same relationship that of the colonized toward the colonizer. Too long have we allowed white people to interpret the importance and meaning of the cultural aspects of our society. We have allowed them to tell us what was good about our Afro-American music, art, and literature. How can a white person who is not part of the black psyche (except as the oppressor) interpret the meaning of the blues to us who are manifestations of the songs themselves? Black people concerning the contributions that we have made in shaping this country must make a thorough re-examination. If this re-examination and re-evaluation is not made, and black people are not given their proper due and respect, then the rivalries and contradictions are going to become more and more evident, more and more intense, until there is a national uproar.

Wine Bottle Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Wine Bottle - Research Paper Example From the discussion it is clear that  since the 17the century wine bottles have been closed by the traditional cork closures which are obtained by processing the bark of the cork tree. Portugal is the biggest exporter of the wine cork closures and its economy is highly based on this primary export. Wine bottle closures are highly important to seal the bottle so that the wine is not affected by the damaging property of the oxygen in the atmosphere although a very little amount of oxygen is still required to be trespassed in to the bottle which is helpful for the wine to reach its potential. The corks are not perfect enough to block all of the oxygen which serves the purpose but they are fallible too which can result in crumbling, breaking, leaking and also, forming the corked wine.  This essay stresses that  the cork closure provides the ceremonial tradition of opening the wine bottle with the popping action. Synthetic and screw cap closures are used as alternatives to the cork closures. The synthetic closures are not successful since they too pass the plastic taints to the wine. Screw Cap closures which are made of aluminium alloy casing which forms the outer layer of the closure with an inner lining of expanded polyethylene which air tights the bottle on compression. Screw cap closures are better wine closures than the cork ones and are also, comparatively expensive due to the material used in them but this expense is lower than the loss incurred due to the corked wines by the cork closures.

Employee motivation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Employee motivation - Essay Example Making an employee feel that they are working towards a better result for themselves and the company, is the best way for an organization to initiate motivation among their work force and offer the best results in relation to the productivity that the company is able to achieve. Though the issue of employee motivation involves the entire organization as a whole, the main people who are involved in ensuring that this motivation exists are the individuals in management positions. This is because they are the ones who deal directly with the different sections of the work force and thus are in an advantageous position to better understand the employees and what it will take to sufficiently motivate them to work harder (Allen & Heidi, 2011). The managers in the company are also in a sense directly responsible for the attitude that employees will have towards the organization as they are deemed to be the representatives of the company. Thus, their treatment of their subordinates technically reflects how the company views their employees (Jon & Paul, 2009). This means that if the employees are mistreated on a frequent basis or are simply treated with callousness by their superiors, they will automatically assume that the company does not care about them. This is n ot concerned about their wellbeing despite the fact that the employees of higher positions may not even be informed of what is going on within the lower ranks as they may have put their trust on those appointed to take care of the work force and see no need for vigorous supervision of their activities. However, ignorance has still no excuse for the poor treatment of a company’s work force. It is the organization’s duty to ensure that their employees’ morale remains high and should track their attitude and level of motivation on a frequent basis to ensure that this goal is not only achieved, but maintained (Jon & Paul, 2009). This can be done by concentrating on

The Cost of Higher Eduction Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

The Cost of Higher Eduction - Research Paper Example This research will begin with the statement that the cost of the higher education in America has been escalating, and many people are wondering how they will have education for their children. The higher education in U.S is an ultimate optional stage of the formal learning after the secondary education. The educational institutions include the colleges, universities that are both private and public. The cost of higher education is known to be relatively cheaper for the public institutions compared to the private ones. The cost of the higher education has skyrocketed making the college and university education unaffordable. The level of unemployment has also been increasing, and the employed people are not getting any increment of their salaries, but the college tuition fee has been increasing in the public colleges. The cost of the education services from college tuition could be solely attributed to the fault of the institutions of higher learning with the administration being accus ed of the bloat compared to the reduced governmental funding. However, the facilities of higher education have tried to keep the expenditures and the tuition down. Many institutions do not try to inflate the costs of the education deliberately. When the ultimate projection is made the today's cost of the higher education may seem cheaper compared to the future costs. Still, the costs are rising at alarming rates that are faster than the inflation.

The story of an hour from mrs Mallards perspective Essay Example for Free

The story of an hour from mrs Mallards perspective Essay It was my sister who broke the news to me. As soon as I gathered from her disjointed announcement that my husband had been killed in a horrific rail accident, I felt myself collapsing into an infinite depression of emptiness, silence and sorrow. My heart and soul were thrust downwards as if a cumbersome mass was depressing my frame, as the eruption of grief forced me to express a plethora of tears into the sympathetic arms of my dear Josephine. Despite the initial and genuine reaction to my sudden loss, I almost felt it my duty to weep for my deceased husband. Of course I loved him, as a companion; he was a means of fortification against the world and a way out of eternal spinsterhood and loneliness, and his mind and soul had now departed forever. Five minutes or so had passed, and I carried myself to my room with little motivation, where I sat in silence, reflecting on the news whilst giving my anaesthetised body an opportunity to recover from the horrific shock which was delivered earlier on. After a period of reflection, I realised that a new beginning seemed to be commencing for me. As I glanced out of the window, I caught a glimpse of the delightful pastel-coloured blossom beginning to appear in the trees. The wildlife animated the street below and a lively new air swept across the room, carried by the sweet spring breeze. I was perplexed, since this charming feeling had approached and briefly refreshed my mood; yet my energy had completely evaporated and my torn, slashed spirit progressed further and further away as if it had no intention of returning to me. The emptiness remained in the atmosphere like an unwelcome storm cloud spoiling an otherwise perfect blue sky. I pressed my head to the material behind me and pondered further. I was aware that I would soon need to confront my fears of seeing my husband before a burial, and the terrible emotions which viciously attacked me would return stronger. However, I also thought of the freedom; I have always wanted to escape. The claustrophobia had almost been too much to battle on occasions. Of course, I would not ever have had the means to escape and it is never considered proper for a lady to leave a respectable, healthy husband. Besides, he would not have let me go, I am quite certain. I was going to be ensnared forever. But after this, I could live without requesting permission. My mind became entranced and the idea of finally being free from eternal slavery dominated my thoughts. Josephine soon arrived at my door, calling for me to open it. Of course, I could not let her in, as I needed to clear the misty fog surrounding my head and collect together my thoughts, which were strewn everywhere. She insisted that I would become ill. However, I assured her that I would not, and immediately I descended back into deep contemplation. My entire surroundings rotated and merged together in my mind, as I managed to absorb a new soul and a positive belief of a more blissful future of freedom. I left the room after my courage was gained enough to for my legs to stand my weight and clasped to Josephine’s wrist. She led me down the staircase to where Richard was stood, and there appeared to be someone entering the house. My curiosity compelled me to glance over at the gentleman, but as I did, I recognised his face. I then realised that this gentleman was my husband. Everlasting amounts of air flooded into my lungs, as my expanding heart was speared by the savage storm of shock and dismay.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles Essay Example for Free

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles Essay The first hydrogen fuel cell was invented in 1839 by William Groves who conducted an experiment that proved electric current could be produced from a electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. He named the invention a gas voltaic battery. For 120 years the technology layed dormant until 1959 when a modified farm tractor was produced with 15 kilowatt fuel cell. In 1966 the first hydrogen fuel cell road vehicle was made, it had a range of 120 miles and a maximum speed of 70 mph. Due to high production costs the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle program was canceled. For thirty years the hydrogen fuel cell was used for space exploration. In 2003 a government initiative was announced to promote the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Hydrogen fuel cells can significantly reduce emissions of greenhouse gasses and theoretically could replace the internal combustion engine. There are a variety of challenges that face further development of the fuel cell vehicle. As of 2014 a total of about 60 hydrogen refueling stations are avaliable to the public worldwide. In the Unitied States there are 12 hydrogen refueling stations 10 of which are located in California. Hydrogen fuel costs 400% more to produce than gasoline. There is a high amount of energy that is needed to make hydrogen into fuel. Hydrogen fuel is stored pressurized form in complex storage tanks. The fuel is kept at a low temperature if hydrogen fuel comes into contact with human skin it can cause immediate frost bite. When there is an improperly designed or damaged valve in a hydrogen vehicle it can cause the tank to over pressurize and explode. Hydrogen fuel is extremely flammable if it comes into contact with an oxidizer such as oxygen it immediately catches fire and burns with an invisible flame. In a car accident a ruptured tank can explode from depressurization. Hydrogen fuel can leak into a cars interior, the driver would be unaware of the odorless gas and be breathing no oxygen if the air conditioning is on recycle causing loss of conciseness or asphyxiation. As of 2014 the range of a hydrogen vehicle is 100 miles on average to 300 miles maximum. A 20 gallon gasoline tank is the equivalent of an 80 gallon hydrogen fuel tank. The National Research Council reported in February 2004 The DOE should halt efforts on high pressure tanks and cryogenic liquid storage. They have little promise of long term practicality for lite duty vehicles. In 2015 Toyota will release its first production hydrogen fuel cell mid size sedan for the price of $70,000. Honda has a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle at the cost of $120,000. There are prototype hydrogen fuel cell vehicle models being produced by a number of auto makers. A May 2008 scientific study in Wired News reported experts say it will be 40 years or more before hydrogen has any meaningful impact on gasoline consumption or global warming, and we cant afford to wait that long. In the meantime, fuel cells are diverting resources from more immediate solutions.

Influence of culture on fashion

Influence of culture on fashion â€Å"The more we learn about culture the greater our understanding of the future of global consumerism in Fashion.† Fashion industry is all about making fashion statements. The industry runs on the motto to be different, stylish, edgy as well as continuous changes in every season of every year. Fashion to customers is being different from the crowd or making a statement by using clothing and accessories that set them apart. Fashion industry is getting more expensive with passing time. In the United States, around 250 billion dollars is spent on fashion and accessories like bag, shoe, etc. (Anon., 2012) When fashion industry is concerned, culture is an integral part of it. Fashion and culture goes hand in hand. Our clothes are a source of non-verbal communication which send messages about who we are, where we come from, what we do and etc. Overall, fashion is a way of expressing ourselves through our clothing and accessories. People try to stay â€Å"in fashion† and they are mostly influenced by popular culture which is reflection of cultural forces as well as social factors. Global consumerism: Widespread use of the internet and communications are changing how and on what people spend their money. This phenomenon has led to emergence of the global citizens who participate in the global marketplace through multinational corporations offering brands which meet their ever changing needs. (Byrnes, 2007, p. 1) This combination of global culture and global connectivity can be defined as globalization. Globalization has created a market with no border and as a result culture is running free in this new era. Now a day, we can see Indian food in every city of the globe or people living in Western countries are wearing ethnic clothes. Consumption is an action that varies from culture to culture. (Byrnes, 2007, p. 2) The result of adopting consumption related values on a worldwide scale has been referred to as a ‘global consumer culture’. Global consumer culture is â€Å"shared sets of consumption-related symbols such as product categories, brands, and common consumption activities†. (Lee, 2006) Global fashion consumerism: The global fashion industry is growing and changing at an incredible rate. According to a study in 2010, Dubai was supposed to reach $655 billion in textile and apparel trade which is 6% of global exports. The data indicates how fashion is evolving in the era of globalization. UAE was the biggest market for Swiss watches in 2013 and had increased 23% year-on-year to $835 million. (Wyne, 2013) This data shows the shift it global fashion consumerism. Meaning, now the Middle East has started emerging as the fashion hub though New York and Paris are still considered as fashion cities of the world. This change has been possible because of UAE’s vast amount of disposable income and also the influence of western culture in the people’s mind. Cultural influence on fashion: It is important to know the influence of culture on fashion industry and to foresee cultural and social movements in order to comprehend the fashion environment. Fashion is not an isolated factor of clothing or accessories but it is connected to our life in every aspect and among them culture is the most significant. Fashion goes further than clothing and into the manner we desire to live our lives.Meaning, fashion influences our lifestyle. Fashion is influenced by cultural changes, such as modernization, art and even technological innovation. There is an apparent interaction of shifts in consumer lifestyle, fashion and culture. It is essential to realize that fashion is made by people living in different cultures and different locations. If we want to understand fashion and its trend then it is necessary to understand what surround us in terms of the way we live. It is our society and culture which is our surrounding and they are the ones which influence our lifestyle. Development of new fashions has mainly three sources in terms of culture. They are: High culture, low culture and pop culture. (Anon., 2010) 1. High culture means elite activities like visual art, auditory art, and applied art like photography, design and architecture. In terms of influencing fashion inspiration, these sources bring new types of ideas and concepts to the designers. How art impacts fashion can be seen in the Louis Vuitton partnership with quite a few contemporary artists, like Takeshi Murakami or Stephen Sprouse, who had embellished Louis Vuitton Monogram bags in the past. 2. Pop culture or popular culture, is a cultural segment, which is followed, appreciated and understood by a larger portion of the world audience. Usually it is highly influenced by movie or music celebrities. This type of culture is seen as a mercantile culture which is produced at a mass level for mass consumption. An example of how pop culture influences our lifestyle and our fashion can be seen by taking into account the most fashionable TV shows, like ‘Sex and the City’ and how everybody wanted to wear clothes like the central characters of the serial. With the progress of globalization, common trends of fashion are seen all around the globe (i.e. Levi’s jeans). 3. Low culture includes local street activities like graffiti or Hip Hop. The power of subculture to fashion can be seen clearly skateboard culture from the 70s to present day.It can be difficult to distinguish certain styles as subcultures because they are quickly (predominantly clothing and music) adopted by mass culture. For example, the Japanese Harajuko girls, who are teenagers, originally from Tokyo’s Harajuko district, who dress in a particular way. American singer Gwen Stefani named her 2005 world tour as well as her clothing line after these girls. In this way, a subculture or local culture has become a part of the global fashion and has been adopted by the global fashion market. (Anon., 2010) Macro and micro trends in fashion: Macro trends are drivers for 5-10 years whereas micro trends are drivers for 1-3 years. (Sheppard, 2014) Like most industries fashion industry is also shaped by macro and micro trends. Macro trend is a larger behavioral group and a micro trend is the mini fashion craze. Currently the micro trend is undoubtedly the skinny jeans, which is closely followed by leggings and footless tights. But a larger macro-trend for a while in the fashion has been ethical and environment friendly clothing and accessories. Trends come and go because of the impact of media in our lives. The hit US TV drama Mad Men, which is set in the early 1960s, has had a big influence on high street fashion. Actress Christina Hendricks has helped to bring back full skirts, longer hemlines, and cropped cardigans as well as almost single-handedly brought back the curvy fit in the fashion market. The micro trends are also changing because of the internet.(Anon., n.d.) Culture is made of factors like society, education, values, and norms and so on. Since, fashion deals with how we look and what we wear; it is largely influenced and controlled by culture. In the past, fashion was segmented and local culture influenced but with the emergence of globalization we are turning towards a more global fashion consumerism. This is why brands like Chanel, Burberry are seen in India, Thailand, and Dubai and so on. To understand the future of global fashion consumerism, we need to understand how people interpret fashion these days and whether they are influenced more by their own culture or popular culture. Though in countries like India, local culture plays a bigger influence on consumerism but still common people are seen wearing trendy clothes matching current global fashion. This shows the cultural difference among the people in the country. Thus, understanding the culture is very important for global fashion consumerism. Bibliography Anon., 2010. Dickens employs a rich variety of settings and characters to embody :: English Literature

Dickens employs a rich variety of settings and characters to embody the continual struggle between darkness and light central to his novel Great Expectations. Examine how the author has captured this symbolic battle â€Å"Great Expectations† By Charles Dickens Dickens employs a rich variety of settings and characters to embody the continual struggle between darkness and light central to his novel Great Expectations. Examine how the author has captured this symbolic battle, and how it has been dramatically linked to Pip’s ever-changing fortunes. Dickens captures the symbolic battle between the darkness and the light by employing a wide diversity of settings and characters to represent the ever-changing situations that Pip is in. The characters are always correlated to the background to convey the lessons that Dickens wants to show and he uses the characters to (more or less) tell the story, which gives the novel an almost theatrical, feel like the backgrounds are painted to suit the event. The author makes it easy for us to imagine the setting which creates these very dramatic, colourful backdrops in our imagination, by creating the mood and the atmosphere of the book. A continual question that is kept throughout the story is whether Pip’s aggressive side has anything to do with his working class background and how uneducated he is? As the reader we can only conclude this question right at the end of the novel, when Pip essentially aspires to his â€Å"Great Expectations† and his new status. Pip has two sides to his ever-changing character, a good side and a bad side which is very much influenced by where he is or what is happening. It becomes clear as the novel progresses that whenever Pip is with Mr Joe Gargery his, loving, kind side is always brought out. Joe is always linked to the brighter side of nature, a man who never thinks or talks ill of anyone. It is Joe’s influence and presence that is evidently replicated upon Pip in this quote â€Å"There I stood, for minutes, looking at Joe, already at work with a glow of health and strength upon his face that made it show as if the bright sun of the life in store for him were shining on it.† Whereas whenever Pip is in the company of Miss Havisham who is forever linked to darkness, death and decay †I saw Miss Havisham going along it in a ghostly manner, making a low cry†, â€Å"She sat, corpse-like† we are given the impression that Pip becomes torn between the two different worlds. This is due to the fact there is this bright star, Estella who brings light into

The Master-Slave Relationship Essay -- master Slave Essays

The Master-Slave Relationship In this paper I will be discussing the master-slave relationship. I will give you an understanding as to how this union exists. Also I will brief you on how without this relationship a city would not exist. This paper will not only define the master-slave relationship but give quotations and examples that will help you the reader to fully understand this concept. In the master-slave relationship, with this union, the master can not exist without the slave. The slave is there to assist the master with the maintaining of the master’s wants and needs. In the classroom setting the teacher is the slave because he or she has the knowledge that is needed by the students. The students would be the master because the teacher is upholding the desires and wishes of the students by teaching them the knowledge they have. According to Aristotle The Politics, Book I Chapter 2, â€Å"The naturally ruling and ruled, on the account of preservation. For that which can see with the thought is naturally ruling and naturally mastering elements while that which can do with the body is naturally ruled and slave.† This is one of the common relationships that are known in the household. The household is the partnership established by nature for the needs of daily life. A group of households makes up a village, and a group of villages makes up a city. Now that we have seen that the city is made up of households, I would like to discuss that management of the household. What makes up the household relates to the people in the household. A complete household consist of slaves and freemen; who are the master and slave, the husband and wife, and the parent and child. The leadership of the master over the slave is different from nature, and the difference between the slave and freeman only exists by law. It is considered just, but the slave and freeman don’t exists by nature and being an impediment with nature is consequently unjust. What is property? According to the Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary property is defined as a quality or trait belonging and especially peculiar to an individual or thing. Property is also in conjunction with the household, and the ability of managing property is also a part of managing the household; for no man can live well, or indeed live at all, unless he is supplied with the essential items needed to survive... ...ical rule were the same, but they are different. Mastery and political rule are not the same thing, because political rule is over those who are free and equal. With this rule the master is not called master because he has skill that is needed. To be in love is to also be in a master-slave relationship. With this form you are trying to embody in the person what you think you need. So the person that needs something is the master and the one who encompasses it is the slave. Mastery rule is acquiring slaves but using them for their advantage. With slavery, the masters acquired slaves, and the slaves were used for the monetary gain of the masters. So in conclusion, the master-slave relationship not one only exist in the household, but it exist in society and everyday life. Without this relationship, people would be unable to determine who they are as a person and what their purpose is in life. This relationship helps define many interactions, weather it is romantic, educational, or a job function. I never really thought to much about this relationship and just related it to slavery, but I have come to know that it is a significant aspect in the way life’s relationships are viewed.

Cellular Networks With Base Station Cooperation Engineering Essay

Energy ingestion of communicating engineerings is of great involvement late for both environmental and economical grounds. Coordinated Multi Point ( CoMP ) is a promising engineering to extenuate and even exploit intervention through signal articulation processing, response and transmittal at the Base Stations ( BSs ) and has the possible to hike spectral efficiency every bit good as to supply more homogenous user informations rate distribution. However, CoMP requires extra infrastructural cost, low latency backhaul links between BSs, signalling operating expenses and hence, increased signal processing at the transceivers end. The energy efficiency appraisal of auspicious engineerings like CoMP will function as a utile tool to look into the tradeoff between the possible additions in throughput and the energy ingestion in future cellular webs. This research investigates the farther executions needed for BS co-operation and evaluates the extra power that will be dissipated at Base Stations due to the new constituents. This undertaking aims at developing a mathematical power ingestion theoretical account which will depict the extra power needed for BS cooperation in cellular systems and interpret the several parametric quantities harmonizing to the LTE/LTE-A cellular criterions. The planetary information and communicating engineering ( ICT ) industry is a fast turning subscriber to the universe broad nursery gas emanations. The whole Information and Communication Technology ( ICT ) sector has been estimated to stand for about 2 % of planetary CO2 emanations and about 1.3 % of planetary CO2 equivalent ( CO2e ) emanations in 2007 [ 1 ] . The survey in [ 2 ] estimations that the nomadic webs represent 0.2 % and 0.4 % of the planetary CO2e emanations in 2007 and 2020, severally. Within ICT, the nomadic communications sector today has a instead little portion [ 3 ] , but a important addition can be expected in the close hereafter. Merely late, the European Union Commission called on ICT industry to escalate their aspirations to cut down its C footmark by about 20 % already by 2015 and to better energy efficiency of the webs. The chief subscriber to greenhouse gas emanations caused by wireless webs originates from the wireless entree web, more exactly from the bas e Stationss. There are in chief two ways to cut down energy cachexia: by energy cognizant constituents in the base Stationss and by energy cognizant web deployment schemes, efficaciously minimising idle capacity of base Stationss [ 4 ] . As per [ 2 ] , RAN operation dominates the planetary C footmark of planetary Mobile communications today, and it will still be responsible for about tierce of the C footmark in 2020. The survey presented in this papers suggests that nomadic traffic volume will lift by a factor of 100 to 150 and the figure of BS sites will approximately double between 2010 and 2020. Parallel to that, the overall RAN energy ingestion will lift by approximately 40 % . The survey besides posits that the overall C footmark of nomadic communications will about treble between 2007 and 2020 if no extra agencies for decrease are taken. The EARTH undertaking focuses on RAN operation and is expected to hold major impact on the energy ingestion ( and therefore the C footmark ) of new base Stationss. RAN energy ingestion could be decreased by agencies of a co-ordinated attempt to recognize both component and system-level energy efficiency betterments. Despite the strong connexion of increasing informations rates and higher energy ingestion, scientific and technological advancement managed to maintain gait with the addition, a fact that is besides observed for the last decennary of 3G developments. In that period, possible information rates and existent informations traffic increased by a factor of one hundred while the energy ingestion of base Stationss dropped five times per provided channel capacity harmonizing to Ericsson. This tendency could go on as the EARTH undertaking keeps working on energy efficiency in nomadic webs [ 7 ] .LTE and Coordinated Multi-PointThe 3GPP Long Term Evolution ( LTE ) and LTE-Advanced are extremely flexible wireless interface and one of the ends of this development is to make and even excel the demands on IMT-Advanced, as presently being defined by ITU-R. These demands will include farther important sweetenings in footings of public presentation and capableness compared to current cellular systems, including the first release of LTE. In order to make the demand of LTE Advanced, coordinated multi-point transmission/reception ( CoMP ) is used as a method to increase the cell norm and cell edge user throughput in the both uplink and downlink [ 5 ] . When coordination is employed, inter-cell intervention is mitigated so that the links can run in the high signal/noise ratio ratio government and hence increases the spectral efficiency which is a major design end for future radio webs [ 6 ] . Coordinated multi-point transmission/reception is a concerted transmittal and response engineering, which can be easy deployed in a semi-distributed communicating system with distributed aerials but centralized control functionality. Several transmittal points are linked to one eNodeB, whereas each transmittal point may incorporate one or multiple antenna elements. Multiple UEs ( User Equipment ) can be served at the same time by one or multiple transmittal points of the same or different eNodeBs. The co-ordinated cardinal accountants retrieve information from distributed transmittal points and allocate resources to fulfill the QoS demands of the UEs while maximising the web public presentation [ 5 ] . Uplink CoMP: Uplink CoMP implies a possibility for joint processing of signals being received at multiple, geographically detached points. In general, a UE does non necessitate to be cognizant of at what points its transmittal is being received and what processing is carried out on the corresponding standard signals, either at these points or, instead, at a cardinal accountant. Two uplink CoMP articulation processing strategies are listed below: A. Joint processing before decrypting In this strategy, users transmit signals to all receive points and receive points will send on the signals they received to the joint point before decrypting it. Using this scheme really small information is lost, and hence higher CoMP addition can be achieved. But new interfaces between receive points and joint point are needed in this instance. B. Joint processing after decrypting In this strategy, users transmit signals to all receive points and receive points will send on the signal they received to the joint point after decrypting it. Using this strategy more information is lost compared to the old strategy, and hence lower CoMP addition will be achieved. But this strategy can be achieved easy by utilizing bing X2 or S1 interfaces. Downlink CoMP: Downlink CoMP implies dynamic coordination between downlink transmittals from multiple geographically separated transmittal points. In conventional cellular systems, each base station transmits signals intended for users within its cell coverage. Depending on the users ‘ channel conditions, intervention caused by neighbouring cell transmittals can aggressively degrade the standard signal quality. Therefore, the downlink capacity of cellular radio webs is limited by inter-cell intervention. Since the base Stationss can be connected via a high-velocity anchor, there is an chance to organize the base aerial transmittals so as to extenuate inter-cell intervention, and therefore better spectral efficiency. The chief rule of CoMP that UE could be jointly served by multiple points over the same wireless resource is the footing to increase the spectrum efficiency while keeping the macro diverseness and/or spacial multiplexing addition [ 5 ] . In the general sense, the downlink CoMP is chiefly characterized into two categories: A. Coordinated scheduling and/or beam-forming ( CS-BF ) In the category of CS-BF, â€Å" information to individual UE is outright transmitted from one of the transmittal points while the programming determinations are coordinated to command the intervention generated in a set of co-ordinated BSs † . In other words, the informations intended for a peculiar UE is non shared while some information related to the channels are shared among different BSs. B. Joint treating / transmittal ( JP ) In the category of JP, â€Å" information to individual UE is at the same time transmitted from multiple transmittal points to better the standard signal quality and/or natural actively intervention for other UEs † . In this instance, informations intended for a peculiar UE is shared among different BSs and is jointly processed at these BSs [ 4 ] .General Power ModelIn order to quantify additions achieved by using energy cognizant techniques in web planning, an appropriate energy efficiency metric must be defined. One of import figure of virtue is the energy ingestion of a web. In the hereafter, base Stationss will go more energy efficient. The points with the highest impact on a base station ‘s power ingestion are the undermentioned: use of distant wireless caputs or ordinary power amplifiers with matching feeder losingss, different sorts of chilling ( air conditioning, air circulation, or free chilling ) , site sharing ( particularly sing substructure ) , and figure of bearer frequences. It can be expected that the mean power ingestion demand per spot lessenings in the undermentioned old ages due to new engineerings. Major power devouring constituents involved in cellular webs are listed below [ 4 ] : Power Amplifier: The power amplifier ( PA ) is expected to work in a province in which the extremum value of the signal corresponds with the possible peak power of the PA. Thus, the efficiency can be maximized. Doherty and Gallium nitride ( GaN ) PAs have the potency to better the efficiency. They are particularly suited for LTE with its high crest factor compared to GSM, where a changeless envelope transition technique is employed ( Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying: GMSK ) . Signal Processing: UMTS signals are much more complex than GSM signals sing the signal processing on sender and receiver side, whereas LTE signals are even more complex. Therefore, the signal processing per nexus is well increased. A/D Converter: This constituent consumes less than 5 % of a macro base station ‘s input power. Therefore, it is non regarded and assumed to be included in the signal processing portion. Antenna Gain and Feeder Loss: Normally included in the Link Budget. Power Supply and Battery Backup: The loss within these two constituents is typically between 10 % and 15 % and depends chiefly on the employed engineering. By utilizing 10 % , an optimistic value is assumed. Cooling: Cooling is chiefly dependent on environmental conditions. Valuess between nothing ( free chilling ) and 40 % can be found.Analysis/ENHANCEMents on Power ModelsEnergy Consumption of Cellular Base StationsPower Model # 1A simple theoretical account of the long term base station energy ingestion is given in [ 4 ] . Another power theoretical account capturing backhauling energy is modelled in [ 8 ] as followers: PBS = a * Ptx + B * Psp + c * Pbh, where PBS, Ptx, Psp and Pbh denote the norm consumed energy per base station, the radiated power per base station, the signal processing power per base station, and the power due to backhauling, severally. The coefficients a, B, and hundred theoretical account effects that scale with the matching power type such as amplifier and feeder losingss, chilling, or battery backup [ 4 ] . A brief overview of three power types has been given below: A. Transmission Transmit power effects the overall base station power ingestion through the efficiency of the power amplifier, the chilling equipment every bit good as battery backup required for operation. The mean transmit power per base station graduated tables with the inter site distance D harmonizing to the way loss theoretical account as 10 log ( Ptx ) = 10 log Pmin + 10 log K + 10 * I » log D/2 where Pmin is the needed minimal receive power at the Mobile and the term 10 log K + 10 log D2 is the path loss at the cell border in dubnium for a given inter site distance D. For power calculation we require coverage of 95 % and presume the base Stationss are centered at their cell countries. Average values of K have been taken with regard to shadowing and LOS chances as per LTE criterions. B. Signal Processing Base set digital signal processing is performed in all cellular base Stationss. The complexness of the operations and the energy ingestion depends amongst others on the employed air interface every bit good as the sum of cooperation between base Stationss. In the LTE-Advanced testbed execution about 10 % of the overall parallel and digital processing power are due to uplink channel appraisal and approximately 3 % are due to uplink and downlink MIMO processing. The former graduated tables linearly with Nc due to the increasing figure of estimated links. Assuming an MMSE filter operation, the latter requires Nc3 operations, nevertheless, the calculation is performed merely one time per cooperation bunch such that mean MIMO processing per base station merely scales quadratically with Nc. With a basal value of psp the signal processing power per sector as a map of different cooperation sizes graduated tables as Psp = psp * 0.87 + 0.1Nc + 0.03Nc2 C. Backhauling Reflecting the state-of-the-art in most cellular webs, we model backhaul as a aggregation of radio micro wave links of 100 Mbit per 2nd capacity and a power dissipation of 50 W each. Therefore for a given norm backhaul demand per base station cbh, the extra backhaul power computes as Pbh = ( cbh/100Mbit/s ) * 50W. The above mentioned is the power theoretical account proposed in [ 4 ] .Power Model # 2In this subdivision, the power theoretical account in [ 9 ] has been discussed. First, the power ingestion of the base Stationss has been evaluated. Based on this rating, the power ingestion of the base station to the radio coverage scope has The base Stationss are placed out-of-door and indoor residential scenario for the nomadic Stationss are the premises made in this work. A. Power ingestion of a base station In this subdivision, the power ingestion of base Stationss in wireless entree webs has been detailed. In a basal station we typically find several power devouring constituents. We define a base station as the equipment needed to pass on with the nomadic Stationss and with the backhaul web. A basal station contains equipment that occurs per sector ( so nsector times for all sectors ) such as digital signal processing ( responsible for system processing and cryptography ) , power amplifier, transceiver ( responsible for having and directing of signals to the nomadic Stationss ) , signal generator, AC-DC convertor. Furthermore a base station contains equipment that occurs merely one time such as the air conditioning and the microwave nexus ( responsible for communicating with the backhaul web ) . In the figure below, the equipment of the base station and the different notations for the power ingestion Pel of the different parts are indicated: Once the power ingestion of the different constituents of the base Stationss is known, the power ingestion Pel of the full base station ( in Watt ) can be calculated as follows: Pel = nsector ( nTx _ Pel/amp + Pel/trans + Pel/proc +Pel/conv + Pel/gen ) + Pel=micro + Pel=airco with nsector the figure of sectors in the cell, Pel/amp, Pel/trans, Pel/proc, Pel/conv, Pel/gen, Pel/micro and Pel/airco are the power ingestions of the power amplifier, the transceiver, the digital signal processing, the AC-DC convertor, the generator, the microwave nexus and the air conditioning, severally. Table below shows the values that we consider here for the power ingestion of this equipment for the considered engineerings. These values are retrieved from informations sheets of assorted makers of web equipment. In the above probe, cells have been considered with three sectors ( therefore nsector is 3 ) . Furthermore, nTx is the figure of conveying antennas per sector. In the most simple state of affairs, which is called a SISO ( Single Input Single Output ) system, the base station uses merely one aerial for transmittal and the nomadic station uses merely one aerial for having. In this instance the parametric quantity nTx is 1. When a MIMO ( Multiple Input Multiple Output ) system is considered where the base station uses two conveying aerials and the nomadic station one or two having aerials, the nTx parametric quantity is 2. For each conveying aerial of the base station we need one power amplifier. So we have to take the power ingestion of the power amplifier into history several times harmonizing to the figure of conveying aerials that are used in one sector. The power ingestion of each portion of the base station is a changeless value ( in Watt ) , except for the power amplifier. The po wer ingestion of the power amplifier depends on the required input power of the aerial. To pattern the power ingestion of the power amplifier we need to specify the efficiency _ of the power amplifier. The efficiency of the power amplifier is the ratio of RF end product power Pout/amp ( in Watt ) to the electrical input power Pel=amp of the power amplifier ( in Watt ) . B. Calculation of scope R In this subdivision, the power ingestion Pel of the base station has been related to the radio scope R. For this, a nexus budget has been set-up. A nexus budget takes all of the additions and losingss of the sender through the medium to the receiving system into history. First, the maximal way loss PLmax ( in dubnium ) has been calculated to which a familial signal can be subjected while still being noticeable at the receiving system. The way loss is the ratio of the radiated power to the standard power of the signal. Table below gives an overview of all the additions and losingss that occur. It is of import to observe that PLmax is dependent of the input power PTx of the aerial and therefore dependant of the end product power of the power amplifier which is Pel/amp. Once the maximal way loss PLmax is known, the scope R ( in meters ) can be determined by utilizing a way loss theoretical account. A general way loss PLmed map is given as: PLmed = g ( d| degree Fahrenheit, hemoglobin, hectometer ) PLmed is a map g ( : ) of the distance vitamin D ( in meters ) , the frequence degree Fahrenheit, the height hemoglobin of the base station and the height hectometer of the nomadic station. The measure before the | is a variable and varies over a uninterrupted interval while the measures after the | are parametric quantities which take merely one discrete know value. The map g ( : ) depends on the used way loss theoretical account e.g. , the HATA theoretical account and the Erceg theoretical account. Erceg C theoretical account has been used here. To find the distance d the upside-down map of equation above has been considered: 500 = g-1 ( PLmed| f, hemoglobin, hectometer ) Based on equation above the maximal scope R ( in meters ) that can be reached with the base station of a certain engineering has been estimated as follows: R = g-1 ( PLmax- SM | degree Fahrenheit, hemoglobin, hectometer ) with SM the shadowing border which depends on the standard divergence of the way loss theoretical account, the coverage per centum and the out-of-door standard divergence. Here we consider a coverage per centum of 90 % .Power Model # 3A elaborate and updated power theoretical account for LTE baseline system has besides been studied in [ 10 ] , one of the plants of EARTH undertaking enterprise, which will be an country of survey.Backhauling PropositionsFrom the comparing of Power Model # 1 and Power Model # 2, it is evident that the power ingestion of Microwave nexus has been underestimated in the former one by 60 % . As microwave nexus has a major function in the power ingestion theoretical account, it is indispensable to hold a more power efficient backhaul option. There is a demand for backhaul capacity to increase for nomadic broadband, informations entree, and picture services to prosecute the end-users every bit good as support cost in cheque. Radio-over-Fiber [ 11 ] as a solution has been turn toing how to administer broadband radio signals in entree webs, including dynamic allotment of resources. Radio-over-Fiber system ( RoF ) is the technique of modulating the wireless frequence ( RF ) sub-carrier onto an optical bearer for distribution over a fibre web. RoF technique has been considered a cost-efficient and dependable solution for the distribution of the hereafter radio entree webs by utilizing optical fibre with huge transmittal bandwidth capacity. RoF has the following chief characteristics: ( 1 ) it is crystalline to bandwidth or transition techniques. ( 2 ) Simple and little BSs. ( 3 ) Centralized operation is possible. New radio endorsers are subscribing up at an increasing demand of more capacity for ultra-high informations rate transportation at velocities of 1 Gbp/s and up sing, while the wireless spectrum is limited. This demand of more bandwidth allotment, topographic points heavy load on the current operating wireless spectrum and causes spectral congestion at lower microwave frequence. Millimeter Wave ( mm-Wave ) communicating system offers a alone manner to decide these jobs. Furthermore, to cut down the sum cost and serve as many users as possible, 60 GHz systems show first-class advantages for the future super-broadband informations services presenting in footings of information rate and power ingestion. Therefore, developing a cost effectual agencies of bring forthing optical millimeter-wave signals at frequences above 60 GHz is of great involvement.FUTURE WorkExisting Power Models needs to be studied in item and should be enhanced with the aid of EARTH [ 7 ] undertaking enterprise. Technology in the 21st Century

If you think back 10 or 20 years ago, you may wonder how we ever did some of the things we are able to now. Technology shapes our society in a number of different ways. Before the invention of the internet, there wasn't email. Many people in the business world communicate solely with email and without it, they are lost. Have you ever lost your internet connection or networking device? You are literally stuck in a mess and have no idea what to do. Think back the first cell phones that were available, before the days of text messaging and blue tooth. Technology is essential in our society in order to grow and move toward the future. With the rising technology, a lot of issues have been done that have remained to be puzzle to many living in the twenty first century. This has further triggered a debate on the appropriate definition of the term technology. With others criticizing technology, most proponents of technology have suggested that technology refers to the employing the use of a variety of tools and approaches in the finding or deriving at possible solutions to certain problems. Technology has been associated with a variety of negative events that befell mankind and other creatures existing in the universe. However, the benefits have greatly surpassed the negatives associated with technology. Technology has played an immense part towards influencing the lifestyles of the present generation. In a particular, the emergence of internet services has given a great boost to the business industry. With it, We have the ability to shape the world we live in. The inventions we create allow us to transform our environment, explore the stars, connect societies across the world, and even extend our lifespan. The invention of the computer has brought economic and social change to the world. So what does the future of technology hold for our society? The possibilities are literally endless. Some of the key factors the government is working on surrounds information technology. With all the new innovations in technology, some people learn how to corrupt and abuse it. Protecting our individual privacy has become so important due to overwhelming cases of fraud and identity theft. The internet allows us to input personal information online for practically anyone to see. Social networking sites have become so popular that undercover policemen have stepped in to protect eople from rapists, murders, and pedophiles. There are tools and practices that exist to allow individuals control over their personal information, but it is not enough. Web site hacking goes along with individual privacy, but it impacts the future of several businesses. Government leaders are looking for ways to create a safe, secure and reliable computing environment for businesses and individuals. Protecting our children from inappropriate content is another popular topic among several businesses and government agencies. While the personal computer and the internet have revolutionized education, they have also opened the doors for exploration by curious children. Technology has allowed countries across the world to connect and interact without having to fly thousands of miles to communicate with each other. Governments and industries are able to communicate and work together towards the future. This allows successful countries to communicate with other countries who lack essential resources and help them find ways to combat their challenges. Digital information can be sent with the click of a button. Software, books, music and video files can be easily distributed to anyone, anywhere. For users, this is beneficial because for no cost, they can share videos of their new baby being born to their family who lives across the country. Of course, the government has had to step in to protect property rights of individuals to ensure that nothing is being digitally stolen. We should look at technology at the gateway to the future. The possibilities of what we can create are endless. Even as we have challenges with technology, we are still able to see amazing things come from it. Technology plays a critical role in our society. Creating technology that is secure and trustworthy is the future. Several companies are working together to achieve this goal and to help our society move forward. Technologies arise to satisfy our wants and needs, this is how society and technology shape the future for one another. As individuals, we are in control of the future. We should dream big and start finding ways to make our dreams into reality.

Who was a better leader, Joseph Smith or Brigham Young?

Joseph Smith was an important religious figure who founded Mormonism. He was faithful, driven, and a strong speaker, but was easily tempered. Joseph Smith had his great contributions and failures, and after his death the new Mormon leader became Brigham Young, who also made great contributions to the Mormon movement, but just as Joseph Smith he had his failures. Joseph Smith was born in 1805. While Smith was growing up, there was a great religious revival taking place in New York State. When he was fourteen, Smith was finding this very confusing, and began to pray for guidance. Smith then claimed that a pillar of light appeared before him, and told him not to join any religious sects. Later as he was growing up, Smith experienced a vision from the angel Moroni, who told him that God had work for him to accomplish. The angel told Smith that a book written upon gold plates was deposited. The book gave accounts of former inhabitants of this continent and their source. The angel then told Smith where to find the book, and he dug it up on a hillside near Manchester. The book gave a different story from the Bible. According to the book, lost Israeli tribes migrated to America before the birth of Christ. There they fought each other until Christ was born and established his Church. Then the fighting began again, and one of the survivors, Mormon, wrote down records of his people on the plates. The person who found these plates was to restore the Church of Christ in America. Smith wouldn't let anyone check the plates to check his honesty, and said he had returned them to the hillside. Smith then published a translation of the plates in 1830. Smith started with just five followers, but his speaking and persuasions kills were very strong, and by the end of 1830 he had several hundred followers. However they were very unpopular in New York State because people claimed that Smith was only trying to make money and his book was offensive. His house was attacked and followers were shot in the streets. Smith then prayed for guidance, he took his followers Kirtland, Ohio. There he planned to set up a City of God. In Kirtland, the Mormon movement flourished greatly, reaching a thousand followers by 1831. They even founded colonies in Missouri. They worked very hard and soon had a store, bank, printing press and a mill. They soon outnumbered the non-Mormons. However their success increased the envy and hatred of the others. Very unfortunately for the Mormons, in 1837 there was a economic crisis, making many banks collapse. Many non-Mormons had put their savings into the Mormon bank, and when it collapsed, they were chased out of Kirtland. The Mormons and their leader, Joseph Smith, then went to the colonies they had set up in Missouri, but this didn't increase their popularity. Attempts were made to stop them from voting, and the local settlers destroyed property. When the government sent in troops to make order, the Mormons were blamed for everything, put in prison, and condemned to death. Then rumours began to go around that they were freeing slaves and upsetting Indians, making the government declare them as public enemies. In 1838 the Mormons were released from prison, they went to a very small town of Commerce in Illinois, which Smith renamed Nauvoo. The Mormons were allowed to develop it into and independent city state. They prospered cooperatively, and in 1844 Nauvoo was the biggest city in Illinois, dominated by the giant temple. The Mormons, now at 35,000 were trying to create an ideal society with no poor, homeless, smoking or drinking. Many of the poor converted, promised salvation. The Mormons were finally settled. However this was ruined by Smith's serious mistakes. He said that the idea of polygamy was right, leading to many Mormons calling him false, and a lot of criticism in the newspapers. This angered Smith and he destroyed the presses of the newspaper. His critics then asked for him to be arrested, and he was put into jail in Carthage. Once the news about polygamy spread to the non-Mormons, they were enrages. They shot Smith in the prison, and Mormons were hunted down by mobs. After the death of Joseph Smith, the new leader of the Mormons became Brigham Young. He decided that the Mormons would leave to the Great Salt Lake in 1846. Young was very organized and down-to earth, and very determined. He also married eight of Smith's former wives, so he was very considerate. Preparations took all winter, and then the Mormons finally began their journey. They passed many dangers even though the journey was well organized, such as the prairie weather and plague that killed hundreds of people. On their way to the Great Salt Lake, they met Jim Bridger, a mountain man who warned them that it would be too cold for growing corn, but was ignored. They also passed Sam Brannan, a Mormon who told them to go to California. Young replied that he is looking for a desolate place. They climbed on upwards, and by July they reached the Great Salt Lake. Young had total control over his community; they trusted and believed in him, and so although he had many challenges to overcome, he knew he'd be able to build a Mormon City. Young decided that there would be no private ownership of land or water, and land would be assigned to people according to their needs by the church. Everything was going well, but in 1848 the US defeated Mexico in war and gained territories including part of the Great Salt Lake. Young decided to form a Mormon state called Deseret, but the US government refused and a compromise was made and the territory of Utah was created, and Young was governor. Young organized and developed Utah very well, building new towns and making farming and wheat production a success. He was sure that the Mormons would be self-sufficient. Young also sent out missionaries to convert people, and got an amazing result. There was an immigration fund set up to help converts pay for their passage to Salt Lake and organize it. However the Mormons weren't very self-sufficient and still didn't have enough workers or money for industrial development. Education wasn't much of an achievement either. Tension also grew between the Mormons and the outsiders when converts began to move to Utah. Many bad rumours spread about the Mormons. It was suspicious to the outsiders that the Mormons had converted some of the Indians, and so rumours spread that they were planning to kill all gentiles together. The US government decided to emphasize their authority, and in 1857 an army of 2500 men was sent out to march against the Mormons, who fled to Salt Lake City. This worked very well and the army ended up not reaching Salt Lake City. Then the Mountain Meadow Massacre took place. As 140 emigrants were heading for California, they passed Utah. They abused Indian converts and insulted the Mormons. This provoked the Indians to attack them. The Indians and the Mormons killed all the emigrants to stop the news from spreading out. The Mormons then blamed everything on the Indians. But soon newspapers spread the story, begging for the Mormons to be punished. The US government sent troops out again, causing the Mormon families to flee. But when the news reached the East, the Mormons were suddenly turned into victims. In 1858 the US government offered them a full forgiveness if they accepted the US authority. They agreed, a governor was appointed, and they were allowed to develop in peace. Their true leader was still Brigham Young. However polygamy was still a disagreement. When Utah applied to become a state, the US offered to let them become a state if they accepted the ban of polygamy. They agreed, and Utah was made a state in 1896. Both of the men faced challenges, found solutions, and left a positive impact on the Mormon movement. Joseph Smith was very driven and determined and wouldn't accept defeat. He was a great public speaker with a lot of charisma, and thereby converted many people into Mormonism. He was a business man and established banks. Smith was very intelligent because he created a thriving business and a new religion. He was also a great leader before he was jailed. He was also clever to establish colonies in Missouri, to which the Mormons fled out of Kirtland. Brigham Young managed to leave a very positive impact on the Mormon movement as well. He was a great leader, and his people believed in him and trusted him. He was very organized and more down to earth than Smith. He managed to organize the long and difficult journey to the Great Salt Lake. When they faced cold weather in the winter, he arranged the winter quarters where they stayed. He also had total control over his community and established a thriving city in the Great Salt Lake. He developed a great law of land being given to people according to their needs. He also negotiated well with the US government, eventually receiving the land of Utah. His missionaries to convert people were a big success, and he built new towns in Utah, as well as making faming and wheat-production a success. He also established a great immigration fund for immigrant converts. He made a right and down-to earth decision when he accepted anti-polygamy, finally making Utah a State. He was also very considerate; he had the answers to the Mormons' problems, carried them through after the death of smith, and married all of Smith's wives. He left a long-time impact, and after his death Salt Lake City was prosperous, the power of the Church was finally established through his system of government, and many of his foundations still remain today. Both of the Mormon leaders also had failures. Joseph Smith's strong temper got him into jail twice. He was also too ambitious, and his ideas of polygamy ruined the Mormons' peace in the land they were finally free in. When his banks collapsed, this added tension to the Mormons' relationship with the outside world even more, and made them seem unreliable and too ambitious. By the time he presented his ideas about polygamy, his people didn't believe in him anymore because he had gotten them into jail, and so his leadership image was ruined. Brigham Young had failures as well. Although his planning for the Great Salt Lake journey was good, they still faced challenges and people died on the way. He also didn't manage to establish a law to allow polygamy. They also weren't as self-sufficient as he planned, and they lost money when their iron, pottery and textile attempts didn't succeed. They also didn't achieve much in the education area. The emigrants also complained of overcharging, and relations between Mormons and the outsiders remained difficult. Overall, Brigham Young definitely left a bigger positive impact on the Mormon movement. He was much more down-to-earth than Smith, and his people remained believing in him until his death. Even when Utah was appointed a new governor, he still remained their spiritual leader. Young managed to make Utah a state where Mormons continued to live after his death. Many of his foundations still remain today. The power of the Church was firmly established through his system of government, and Salt Lake City was prosperous after his death. Many Mormons remain in the world today. Young didn't get the Mormons into jail or disappoint them like Smith did, and carried them through his death. Smith had minimal achievements compared to Young, and died in shame and disapproval unlike Young, who left a great impact after his death.
